Commissioned by developer Bowdon Homes, Still Meadow is a striking, contemporary new home. The form of the house, designed by FPA architects, responds to its triangular plot whilst adhering to strict conservation area planning guidelines.

Finished in natural slate and wood, the internal accommodation is laid out over two floors including five bedroom suites and a swimming pool. In addition the house offers a South facing roof terrace.

The swimming pool is the focal point of the ground floor. The pool is immediately visible on entering the house, set directly behind a glass screen that also allows a view through to the garden at the rear. An open plan layout leads through a formal sitting area to the kitchen/family room space which in turn offers access onto the garden. The dining area enjoys views into the swimming pool enclosure. It can be opened onto the living area via floor to ceiling double doors and also has access onto the rear garden.

A feature staircase with vistas onto the swimming pool provides access to four ensuite bedrooms at first floor level. Each bedroom is afforded extensive glazing that overlooks the grounds of the property. Recesses have been included to the side of the window openings to conceal the curtains when open.

The Master Bedroom suite is situated to the front of the house and benefits from the South facing roof terrace located above the hall/pool area. With the rear garden facing North, it was important to include a private, South facing outdoor space in the design.

The terrace, which includes a custom made hot tub, can also be accessed via a separate staircase that serves the guest suite and gym. Positioned above the garage, the guest suite enjoys panoramic glazing to two sides with its own terrace area beyond.

To complement the internal layout, the house adopts a contemporary style externally. The large glazed openings area set within crisp white rendered walls below the wide overhangs of a shallow pitched roof. The main entrance and dominant chimney feature are highlighted with local, coursed natural pink sandstone.

From the natural stone of the facade to the slate and woods of the interior, the house has been finished to a high level. The great care and attention to detail observed in completing the build has resulted in a very unique home.
