Old Cragg Hall Barn
Old Cragg Hall Barn was converted into luxurious holiday accommodation from the remains of an old stone outbuilding. The Barn is situated in the grounds of Grade II listed 17th Century Old Cragg Hall, high above Cragg Vale (near Hebden Bridge) and has fabulous views over the valley. Designed solely as self-catering holiday accommodation, it’s an innovative conversion using the best of green technologies including a ground source heat pump, a heat recovering ventilation system and high levels of insulation and draughtproofing. The Barn has upside-down accommodation with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms downstairs and open-plan living upstairs, taking advantage of the views and natural light from the fully glazed gable. It has received a 5-star Gold Award from Visit Britain, the national tourism award scheme.
As the Barn conversion was designed as a furnished holiday let, every detail was considered to ensure easy cleaning and ease of use (for example designing bedside cabinets with shelves instead of drawers so that guests can see all their belongings (and not leave them behind!)). Additional extras such as heated boot rack and coat hooks in the entrance hall ensure that guests can dry their walking equipment easily, whilst also helping to prompt them to take them off quickly, helping to keep the Barn clean.
The conversion was completed using local tradespeople and local suppliers – the local builders merchant provided all the materials, all the trades were sourced locally and even the 4.5m high double-glazed, argon-filled windows were sourced from Skipton.
With fabulous views and superb contemporary interior it has everything needed for a relaxing holiday, plus the bustling town of Hebden Bridge is nearby. Set within an outstanding rural location, and utilising the latest sustainable technologies, Old Cragg Hall Barn will provide high-quality self-catering accommodation for decades to come.
