Based in Sheffield, Inspired Garden Design Ltd is committed to producing high quality outdoor spaces with a real emphasis on good living, whatever form that may take.

By stripping back the real meaning of a garden, and the human desire to create 'safe spaces' around the places we live, we like to get under the skin of our clients. What makes them tick? What gets them out of bed in a morning? The kind of lifestyle they lead and how we can tease them out into the garden. Only when we understand their true brief, do we undertake the transformation, not only of their garden, but in many cases the way the live their life (at least in the garden anyway).

We love creating spaces which reduce stress levels, workload, maintenance and anxiety, and love introducing fun, relaxing and individual spaces which are quite literally designed around our clients.

The attached photographs are from a recently completed garden at the rear of a new build property where a young couple who love entertaining have recently moved in. The garden is a true extension to the kitchen and dining space, complete with level threshold, beautifully smooth sandstone paving and fun, bold colours which are matched inside and out with their internal feature walls, (as well as their personality!)

The brief was to create a sociable outdoor space complete with day bed which was flexible enough to be used morning, noon and night. In addition it must house a variety of plants. It was never going to be easy on a site completely stripped of soil (sub and top) by the house builders, as it was a stipulation of planning that the whole area be reduced by 1.4M in height. This left solid bedrock on which to build the new garden. With its strange angles and sloping site (80cm from one side to the other), this level garden was created with raised beds (an opportunity to import perfect soil ... a passion of Lees).

The garden has been enjoyed by many of the clients friends (including sleeping under the stars by the glowing embers) and when the doors are flung back, and the table moved outside, has been the heart of family gatherings. At night the fire pit is lit and scented candles mixed with great lighting make this outdoor space a place to live life to the max, or provides the perfect place to snuggle up with a glass of red wine.
