Ultimate Car Man Cave
This luxury residence in Bowdon, Cheshire was designed with a large garage sited underneath the property. Calderpeel and The Design Practice by UBER were asked to create an ‘Ultimate Car Man Cave’ within the garage space that was fit for the owner’s stunning McLaren supercar, as well as a place to escape the pressures of daily life and have some well-deserved time alone or with friends.
A collaborative approach between architect and interior designer, this unique project combines stunning high-end design with touches of pure indulgence. Calderpeel Architects has worked with UBER on numerous occasions to form a design team with complementary expertise and vision.
As a repeat commission from an existing superhome client, we knew this room had to be something jaw-dropping and breath-taking; something that would elevate it over and above the usual ‘man cave’ retreat; and something different to anything that had been done before. Careful use of materials was crucial in creating the correct atmosphere. We recognised that ‘first impressions count’.
The property itself was designed to maximise the house’s relationship with outside space. Accommodation is wrapped around the garden allowing daily life to flow seamlessly outdoors. The house takes full advantage of the width of the plot, and careful exploration of the section allows sunlight to penetrate deeply throughout, to create a large, but brightly lit interior. In total contrast is the garage space; a hidden gem that’s intimate and secluded in its position tucked away under the house.
From taking the brief, UBER created an interior proposal that makes clear references to the supercar – beautifully detailed, tactile materials, high level finishes and executed in a way that ultimately symbolises the supercar in terms of styling and engineering.
Always aiming to exceed expectations by creating elegant and unique tailored designs, UBER has a proven track record in designing and delivering high end luxury interiors and creates a seamless journey from concept through to completion.
In delivering this high end project the working relationship between architect and interior designer was imperative. A team effort combining the architectural technical information with a detailed interior specification resulted in a common core of design knowledge and specialism focused on delivery and the end product.
