This new-build four bedroom house was designed for a young family in Cheshire. The brief from the outset was to not only design a passivhaus but to create an interesting and comfortable modern home. Located within a conservation area, the design wasn’t initially welcomed by the area’s residents. However, once complete the feedback has all been positive and has demonstrated the contemporary design is often the most appropriate solution.
The house was built under a modest budget using a highly insulated close panelled timber frame that was manufactured off site. The windows are triple-glazed timber frames clad in aluminium, whilst the walls are clad in either timber of brick to complement the neighbouring brick houses and surrounding trees.
