IconInc is a new luxury student accommodation brand. Its first development The Edge, cost £15 million to build and opened in Leeds on 14th September 2015.

Receiving widespread media coverage, IconInc hit the national headlines for offering ‘7 star student accommodation’. The phrase was coined by The Daily Mail, Telegraph, Independent, London Evening Standard and numerous industry and regional press outlets.

IconInc aims to fill a gap in the market for luxurious student accommodation. The student higher education sector is vastly oversubscribed with over 190,000 more applicants than places for the 2014/2015 academic year and it is predicated that this is set to rise. The UK will attract an extra 30,000 overseas students over the next 10 years. A new global middle class are keen to send their children to high quality UK Universities, with this influx of students comes the need for a higher level of student accommodation.

Regenerating a derelict part of popular student area, Burley Park, The Edge is only one mile from both Leeds Beckett and University of Leeds.

The Edge is made up of 131 high-spec apartments over 8 floors, with the entire building covering 58,000 square foot. It offers residents unrivalled facilities including a private cinema, gym, gaming zone, lounge area, pool room, study zones, outdoor terraces with ping pong tables as well as a 24-hour concierge service with complimentary grab & go breakfast and around the clock coffee.

As the name would suggest, the brand IconInc takes its inspiration from icons throughout history. IconInc incorporates them into the fabric of the building to create an inspiring space that provides the ideal setting for growing and learning. These ‘icons’ make up the key design of the building, with graphics featuring throughout the facilities, hallways and within the apartments.

Aiming for The Edge to be the first IconInc of many, it was important to not just create a building for students to live in but to create a brand that’s core values are integral to the building and are instantly recognisable. This has been achieved through the use of striking wall graphics, combined with slick design and bespoke furniture and fittings that are truly unique to IconInc.
