Edge House is an example of what can be achieved with truly creative design.
The starting point was a very challenging plot, built into the hill-side in a highly elevated position overlooking Alderley Edge. Simply clearing the site and creating an environment in which a house could be created was, in itself, a feat of engineering. Some 3,000 tons of earth were removed, one truck at a time, much of which was stone, that required heavy duty breaking equipment to extract it. Piling and ground stabilisation techniques were required to allow construction to be undertaken safely and a multi-disciplinary design team was brought together to develop the detailed design.
Once cleared, the challenge was to design a luxury family home over three compact floors of only around 1500 square feet. The result has been a luxury home of the highest order, with three principle floors :-
Leisure - Comprising pool, lounge, gym, changing room and laundry - the most innovative feature being the raised pool floor, which allows the swimming pool area to convert into a party room.
Living - Fitting kitchen, dining, snug, lounge, cinema, cloakroom and study into just 1500 square feet was a significant space planning challenge. Innovative design of fitted fitted furniture, the finest wallcoverings and fabrics and the integration of technology into each space lead to exceptional results. Further, all of the living spaces have direct access to private patios or garden, which harness unprecedented views across the village
Sleeping - Four ensuited bedrooms, with a grand master suite featuring stunning bedroom with features mirrored slot fireplace, a large master ensuite room with bath and shower, private terrace and 'his' and 'hers' dressing rooms featuring Poliform fitted furniture.
In some ways, the photographs tell their own tale. This finished home offers all that you would expect from a luxury family home and yet it has been designed and delivered in the smallest and most challenging of plots and space planned into less than 4,500 square feet.
